What to Bring on the Day of Your Driving Test
Here’s what you need to bring on the day of your driving test:
If You’re Under 18:
- A valid Nevada instruction (learner’s) permit.
- Proof that you've completed either:
- A 30-hour driver’s education course, or
- A 30-hour driver’s education course plus at least 5 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed driving school in Nevada
- A parent or legal guardian must be present at the DMV to sign a consent form in person
- Valid car registration and proof of auto insurance for the vehicle you'll use for the test
Note: Nevada requires teens to complete at least 50 hours of supervised driving, including a mandatory 10 hours at night, before taking the test.
If You’re 18 or Older:
Bring the following:
- A valid Nevada instruction (learner’s) permit
- Valid car registration and proof of auto insurance for the vehicle you’ll be using
Although driver’s education isn’t required for adults, it’s a good idea if you’re new to driving or need a refresher.
If You’re Retaking the Test:
There’s an $10 retest fee that must be paid on the day of the test.
A Note on Parallel Parking
As of early 2020, parallel parking is no longer part of the Nevada DMV driving test, so you won’t be tested on that skill during your exam.

- Proof of identity (like a birth certificate or passport)
- Proof of Social Security number (such as your Social Security card or a W-2)
